I was there, but now here I am
Well, were you there my good man / When the weather became water and washed ashore the sand / Believe me now, my good man / I was there, but now here I am (M. Ward)

What a sense of deja vu, seeing this incredibly emotive shot of yours… Today while driving along in the rain I came across these old containers, lying forgotten in the rain, and for some reason they reminded me of the sea. And now, I’m thinking of the sea again, exactly how I always picture it when I close my eyes, and drift…
you’re better gifted with words my friend but all i know is i like this, i like the shimmer of the water near the edge, the emptiness and the far distant hope of something
Great work! I love the grain in that picture!
Simplicity is often marvellous, good photograph!
Expecting something coming from the other side. The other side of Nordsee. But it could be the other side of any sea. Makes me think of Dino Buzatti’s „Il deserto dei Tartari“…
What intrigues me mostly are these two little vertical structures we can see in the far distance. One more reason to stay waiting.
Once more, a great shot inspiring stories, my friend.
You’re a master of telling stories with so few elements. Leaving much to the viewer to fill in themselves. Also a master of hardcore black&white. This is true grit!
that was the river – this is the sea (the waterboys)
da ist ein etwas, das zieht in die ferne, da ist ein anderes etwas – das ist schwarz. dazwischen: ein ich.
your title reminds me of an old note people would leave on the door of a house when nobody was home…. „i was here and you were not, now you are here and i am not“ …. etc. cool shot.
ay, dark and menacing and gritty and full of contrast and gritty and grainy and unsentimental!
love it, Fritsch!
Love this view, it’s so deep and nicely minimalistic. Great capture and composition.
Have a nice day.
Love love love the heavy vignetting. How the composition draws you right in, and you sit, wait and stare into this goodness.
