songs about roving, rambling and plain hard luck & photography from the other side …

you’re a million light years away & you think less of me everyday

And when you’re a million light years away / And you think less of me everyday / I’ll remember the way the sun would run across your face / How I wish time would stand still for another day / And some lonely day you’ll write me and say / „It never was hard to love the boy that stole my heart away“ / And some lonely day I’ll write you and say / „It never was hard to love the girl that stole my heart away“ (Micah P. Hinson)

From that desert bridge at night, it’s so easy to look at those million lights from Hamburg and imagine one million lives and feelings, warm and cold. And I like to do that. Maybe because it remembers me the best years of my childhood… Despite of the cold nights…
So, Florian, there are faces we meet, their smiles or not, and there are all the other people, very far away, we can only imagine. And maybe that’s yet stronger!
I love here the contrast between the desert point of view and the tiny lights we can see in the distance. Which makes a great shot, my friend.

When the place is wide, clean without any colours, dirty colours or disorder, without any people, in the undistinct night which doesn’t reveal signs of sadness, the place seems to me not to be anxious or lonely because it ’s quite normal to be alone in a lonely place.

On the other hand the song acts very sadly on me.
So listeling to it while watching the picture …

Hmm, Fritsch, my unmet friend. I couldn’t listen to the song. I tried to, but just reading the lyrics made my spirit so sad. It’s all so close to home. And THEN, I really took a look at your photo, and I had to pick my heart up off the floor because the loneliness…no, alone-ness…was too tangible. To be there, looking out over the city, imagining at least, that it is filled with people who are not alone, well, it was too much. I don’t know how you can take photos like this and match them with a song while knowing and feeling what they say when put side-by-side. Only the heart of an artist, a poet, and „someone who has been there“ can do that. Awesome stuff, Fritsch.

I agree Phil:“I don’t know how you can take photos like this and match them with a song while knowing and feeling what they say when put side-by-side. Only the heart of an artist, a poet, and “someone who has been there” can do that. Awesome stuff, Fritsch.“

    Hugs from me, Marie

    Yes it is :)

Thanks for your kind words to me! It is a good thing, that we can „find“ soulmates in words and pictures in this internet world :)

    Godnight.

There are bridges and trains and lights, but even among a crowd sometimes it feels lonely

  10. ay, Fritsch, buddy, I’ve stood at exactly the same place many years ago – Hamburg’s a great city for sailors like us, nightcrawlers drawn to the flames like moths to the lights, pal, like moths to the lights ….

    love it – great work!

    Hepp!
